“I exhort therefore, that,
first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be
made for all men;
For kings, and for all that
are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness
and honesty.
For this is good and
acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
Who will have all men to be
saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (1Tim. 2:1-4).
“Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.” (1Pet. 2:17).
“Put not your trust in
princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.” (Ps. 146:3).
“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be
the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart
departeth from the LORD. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and
shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,
in a salt land and not inhabited.” (Jer. 17:5,6).
“Blessed is the man that
trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree
planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall
not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful
in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” (Jer. 17:7,8).
