“For the wrath of God is
revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who
hold the truth in unrighteousness.” (Rom. 1:18).
“Therefore seeing we have
this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; but have renounced the
hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word
of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to
every man’s conscience in the sight of God.” (2Cor. 4:1,2).
“Woe unto you, lawyers!G3544
for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and
them that were entering in ye hindered.” (Luke 11:52).
G3544 nomikos From G3551; according
(or pertaining) to law, that is, legal (ceremonial); as noun, an expert
in the (Mosaic) law: - about the law,
lawyer.
Every spokesman who takes up
the high responsibility to represent Jesus, the Word of God, had better cross
every “t” and dot every “i”. They are leading masses of souls into heaven or
hell. The day of reckoning will declare the righteousness of their work. “And,
behold, I come quickly;G5035 and My reward is with Me, to give every
man according as his work shall be.” (Rev. 22:12). [And the word “quickly”
means “soon”, “shortly”, “without delay”, “Blessed is he that readeth, and they
that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written
therein: for the time is at hand.” (Rev. 1:3).]
G5035 tachu neuter singular of G5036 (as adverb); shortly, that is, without
delay, soon, or (by a surprise, suddenly, or (by implication
of ease) readily: - lightly quickly.
The day Jesus returns will be
in powerful heat and glory. Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians spoke of the return of Christ as a
singular event, not two events. And the “snatching away” will be a day of intense
heat and intense glory. See 2 Peter 3:10-12. That day will be like the “burning, fiery furnace” that Mechach,
Shadrach, and Abednego walked through. It was like a steel foundry blast
furnace, seven times hotter than normal. And the heat killed the soldiers who
took them to the entrance of the furnace. Only the power of God will protect
the elect of God on that day. No Bible prophecy says that Christ’s return will be a peaceful day that begins a millennium of peace. “Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness and not light..” (Amos 5:18).
“And the remnant were slain
with the sword of Him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of His
mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.” (Rev. 19:21).
“…that Wicked…whom the Lord
shall consume with the Spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the
brightness of His coming.” (2Thess. 2:8).
“And to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised
from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.” (1Thess.
1:10).
“And to you who are troubled
rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty
angels,
In flaming fire taking
vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord
Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with
everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His
power.” (2Thess. 1:7-9).
Beside the heat and glory,
that singular event will be a noisy day like never before. It will include a
great sound of a trumpet and an ear-piercing, fearful shout.
“For the Lord Himself shall
descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the
trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.” (1Thess 4:16).
“And so terrible was the
sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)…
Whose voice then shook the
earth: but now He hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth
only, but also heaven.
And this word, Yet once more,
signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are
made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.” (Heb. 12:21,26,27).
“Once more” will He speak and
shake the Earth, not “twice more”, and not “never even once”. Where in the
secret rapture formula is this thunderous voice that shakes the heavens and
sends the wicked running and wailing, hiding underground and behind mountains?
In neither “second coming” of the seven-year-pretrib-secret-rapture formula is
the earth’s surface destroyed by “flame of fire”, and “the works that are therein...burned up” (2Pet. 3:10). In
neither “second coming” is the atmosphere swept aside at the Creator winds’
power in His approach to our planet. Our Sun’s solar winds are what create our
jet stream and other meteorological effects, such as hurricanes and tornadoes,
lightning and thunder. What will the day be like when the Maker of suns draws
nearer to Earth than our own sun 10 million miles distant?
“And the heaven departed as a
scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out
of their places.
And the kings of the earth,
and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty
men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in
the rocks of the mountains;
And said to the mountains and
rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him that sitteth on the throne,
and from the wrath of the Lamb:
For the great day of His wrath
is come; and who shall be able to stand?” (Rev. 6:14-17).
Not the Lord comes like a
thief in the night, but the day of His return comes like a
thief in the night.
“But the day of the Lord will
come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a
great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and
the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Seeing then that all these
things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy
conversation and godliness,
Looking for and hasting unto
the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be
dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” (2Pet. 3:10-12).
“For yourselves know
perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For when they shall say,
Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a
woman with child; and they shall not escape.
But ye, brethren, are not in
darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.” (1Thess. 5:2-4).
Do we know the fine points of
the truth? Every detail matters. It is on the fine points that Satan focuses.
It’s with the fine points that he twists the major points. It’s the fine points
that he uses to turn the truth to bring the unlearned back into error. Using
the little things he leads the unsuspecting church-goer in a u-turn from the
real meaning of scripture.
“And saith unto Him, If Thou be
the Son of God, cast Thyself down: for it is written, He shall give His angels
charge concerning Thee: and in their hands they shall bear Thee up, lest at any
time Thou dash Thy foot against a stone.” (Matt. 4:6).
Satan quoted Psalm 91:11,12.
“For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a
stone.” The devil left out a tiny phrase that should key the follower of Jesus
in obedience to the will of God. That is, “to keep thee in all thy ways”.
“Psa_5:8
Lead me, O LORD, in Thy
righteousness because of mine enemies; make Thy way straight before my face.
Psa_27:11 Teach me Thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine
enemies.
Psa_37:5 Commit Thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and he shall bring it to
pass.
Psa_44:18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have
our steps declined from Thy
way;
Psa_67:2 That Thy way may be known upon earth, Thy saving health among all nations.
Psa_86:11 Teach me Thy way, O LORD; I will walk in Thy truth: unite my heart to fear Thy name.
Psa_119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed
thereto according to Thy
word.
Psa_119:14 I have rejoiced in the way of Thy testimonies, as much
as in all riches.
Psa_119:27 Make me to understand the way of Thy precepts: so shall I
talk of Thy
wondrous works.
Psa_119:29 Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me Thy law graciously.
Psa_119:30 I have chosen the way of truth: Thy judgments have I laid before me.
Psa_119:32 I will run the way of Thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.
Psa_119:33 HE. Teach me, O LORD, the way of Thy statutes; and I shall
keep it unto the end.
Psa_119:37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity;
and quicken thou me in Thy
way.
Psa_119:101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep Thy word.
Psa_119:104 Through Thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate
every false way.
Psa_119:128 Therefore I esteem all Thy precepts concerning
all things to be right; and I hate every false way.
Pro_3:23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not
stumble.”
Satan excluded the requirement of obedience to God’s Law because Christ would have been encouraged and revitalized by the thought, and strengthened against temptation.
The pastor describes the rapture as an instantaneous event in contrast to Mary Poppins, and her slow descent from the sky with an umbrella. Without any scriptural support he simply, out-of-hand denies that Jesus will descend slowly. He just says, “It won’t be like that.” (Minute 48:14).

But the truth is that “when He had spoken these
things, while they beheld, He was
taken up;G1869 and a cloud
received Him out of their sight.
And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Which also said, Ye men of
Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up
from you into heaven, shall soG3779 comeG2064 in like mannerG5158 as ye have seen Him go into
heaven.” (Acts 1:9-11).
When Jesus left His 500
forlorn disciples angels informed them that His return would take place the
same way. But, His “snatching away” happened slowly. It was a “lifting up”, not
an instantaneous event. Jesus gradually grew smaller due to the increasing distance from
His followers.
G1869 epairō From G1909 and G142; to raise
up (literally or figuratively): - exalt self, poise (lift, take) up.
G3779 houtō From G3778; in this way
(referring to what precedes or follows: - after that, after (in) this manner, as,
even (so), for all that, like (-wise), no more, on this fashion (-wise), so (in
like manner), thus, what.
G2064 erchomai Middle voice of a primary verb (used only in the present
and imperfect tenses, the others being supplied by a kindred [middle voice]
word, eleuthomai or elthō; which do not otherwise occur); to
come or go (in a great variety of applications, literally and
figuratively): - accompany, appear, bring, come enter, fall out, go, grow, X
light, X next, pass, resort, be set.
G5158 tropos From the same as G5157; a turn, that is, (by implication) mode
or style (especially with preposition
or relatively prefixed as adverb like);
figuratively deportment or character: - (even) as, conversation, [+
like] manner, (+ by any) means, way.
“So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting
for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall also confirm you unto the
end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1Cor.
1:7,8).

Paul says that it is the metamorphosis that is instantaneous at the return of Jesus, not His actual return that is instantaneous.
“And as we have borne the
image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood
cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit
incorruption.
Behold, I shew you a mystery;
We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling
of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall
be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
For this corruptible must put
on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible
shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality,
then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up
in victory.” (1Cor. 15:49-54).

a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump….”

Jack Hibbs. How can he be
wrong? Young, good haircut, decoreous. Intelligent, articulate, personable,
nicely demeanored. Leading a large, successful church, teaching from a platform
high above the congregation. Nevertheless, deceived and deceiving. All these can
still be used by the enemy. The number one question is, “What about his
doctrine?”
“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” (Acts 17:11).
Even if some pastors may not be evil, false teachers “shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2Tim. 3:13).
I can’t judge this pastor,
although quoting the above verse might give that impression. I really don’t know
if he is evil and intentionally seducing people. I’m not saying that he is part
of Satan’s favored and nefarious, earthly organization. And, I’m not saying that he’s not.
But, what I can say is that he is not declaring biblical truth. He is not bringing into the presentation of truth all the scriptures, with all of the words for each scriptural proof. Does he believe what he preached or is he just parroting what he heard from a seminary? I don’t know. He said that he put a lot of effort into studying out the secret rapture topic. Nevertheless, when any one of us places himself under the tutelage of professors or pastors whose power of persuasion is stronger than the Spirit of truth, and can sway our heart and intellect, then our minds will bend to their arrangement of facts and figures, their quotations from authoritative sources, and other evidences. Today we must be ever on guard. The scriptures are our only safeguard. Is what we are reading and hearing inspired truth, or truth so called? Is it spiritual science or spiritual alchemy?

If Pastor Hibbs’ false doctrine is
intentional, then it places him in the group that Christ condemned, unless he
repents.
“Unto the wicked God saith,
What hast thou to do to declare My statutes, or that thou shouldest take My covenant
in thy mouth?...
Thou givest thy mouth to
evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.…
These things hast thou done,
and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as
thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.
Now consider this, ye that
forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.” (Ps.
50:16,19,21,22).
